We visited Fletchers recently for lunch. Upon arriving, our first reaction was “Wow it smells great in here”. The décor is warm and perfect for a nice lunch or dinner. The lighting however is a bit dark making it nice for romantic dinner or lunch rather than a business lunch. The wall of wine is a really nice touch though.
Given the aroma and the décor it raised our expectations for having a really outstanding lunch experience. We were left a bit disappointed as it did not quite reach that mark.
The lunch menu consists of Soups, Salads, Sandwiches and Appetizers. We were a group of six most of us had a sandwich or burger and one had a salad. We all agreed that while everything was good it just was not anything different or outstanding. When it came to the Ruben for example while the corned beef was a good quality and ample in size it just was not outstanding enough to warrant the $9 price tag. Our meals were served warm but could have been warmer. The French fries were a bit on the not so warm side. We suspected it was due to the service which was on the slow side.
The service can be said to be adequate but slow. Given the décor on would tend to think that the service would be outstanding as well but it too falls short of that mark.
There are a lot of restaurants all along Cape Coral Parkway these days and Fletchers could be outstanding if they just would step it up just a bit. They could make there dishes a bit more memorable and train their servers to be a bit more attentive. If they would just give us a reason to keep coming back, beside their lunch club card, they could become a destination restaurant with many loyal customers filling their dining room all year long.
